Mission Statement

The mission of the Animal Welfare and Protection Society DBA PAWS For Life Shelter is to take in lost and unwanted dogs and cats; to return them to their owners whenever possible or, after having them spayed or neutered, place them in good homes, and to educate the public about intelligent and humane treatment of animals.

Volunteer Requirements

The terms and conditions listed below are required of all volunteers participating in any activity on shelter grounds or other location involving PAWS for Life, board members, staff, animals or other volunteers:
1. Directions will be issued and authorized only by a staff or board member.
2. Behavior with the staff, the public, other volunteers and the board members will be respectful at all times. Rudeness will not be tolerated. Any complaints will be reviewed.
3. Tennis or walking shoes are required unless otherwise approved for the activity. Earbuds are not allowed.
4. Volunteers are subject to a background investigation. If you have a felony on your record, you will not be allowed to volunteer.
5. We are a drug-free entity with a zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol. This applies to all PAWS activities on or off campus.
6. PAWS is not responsible for any illness or injury caused by any animals that you come in contact with during involvement in volunteer activities. I hereby agree to hold harmless and release from liability PAWS, its Board of Directors, employees and other volunteers should you become sick or injured as a result of any volunteer work.
7. If I am an adoption worker at PetSmart, Petco, or any off-site location, I understand that none of these organizations are responsible for any illness or injury caused by any animals that I come in contact with during my volunteer work. I hereby agree to hold harmless and release from any liability PetSmart, Petco, or any other entity should I become sick or injured as a result of my volunteer work.
8. All minors younger than 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
